I have participated in many educational courses throughout my teaching career concerning the importance of outdoor learning and how to inspire young children by promoting a close relationship to nature. I have now used my experiences and knowledge to create two enabling and natural learning environments where play is key and the interaction between indoors and outdoors is seamless. I support children in becoming more self-reliant as they develop their creative skills through continuous exploration and play. Nature guides our learning through the seasons as we bury our heads in children´s contemporary literature indoors and then go outdoors to use what we have learnt to explore the world around us.
I provide a tailored curriculum based upon the children´s personal discoveries and the characteristics of effective learning as set out in the Governments Early Years Foundation document - Development Matters. Every child´s individual needs are paramount. I actively promote positive attitudes to identity and cultural diversity and strive to provide stimulating lerning environments where all children progress to the maximum.
The children´s achievements are recorded in their learning experiences book where families can see a child´s progress in the prime areas and the specific areas of their development. Family members may access their book at any time and are invited to contribute to them.
I believe that we should all experience nature and the weather on a daily basis. I provide waterproof clothing and welly boots for all the children to use within the setting. I provide slippers indoors so that children feel comfortable and at home.
I believe that healthy eating is the key to an excellent start for every child. I offer lunches and breakfasts for early starters. Every child may have a free snack each morning and afternoon and milk and water are readily available. I also offer teatime meals for those children attending till 5:30pm.

I am a fully qualified Primary Modern Foreign Languages Coordinator and Teacher and have taught interactive Spanish language learning sessions for a number of years. I offer an opportunity for children aged between 1 and 8 to learn Spanish during twice weekly sessions from 3:30pm till 5:30pm. The children will learn valuable skills in the five language learning areas specified by the Government´s Framework for Languages.
Children will learn listening and speaking skills by participating in songs and rhymes. They will learn reading skills by listening to authentic and interactive stories in Spanish and writing skills as they learn to write down their opinions and responses to them. I believe that the teaching of intercultural understanding skills is key to promoting a life-long interest in the way that others live which helps children to reflect on their own family traditions and what is important to them. Children will enjoy cooking Spanish dishes and creating their own Spanish artwork while learning about the lives of important people in the Spanish speaking world.
Throughout my career I have created award winning classroom displays which have showcased children´s artwork. I offer an opportunity for children aged between 1 and 8 to participate in a number of indoor and outdoor arts and craft club three times a week from 3:30pm till 5:30pm. During these exciting sessions the children will learn new skills while painting, printing, weaving and sculpting using different materials.
Children will enjoy helping to look after our pets. We have three guinea pigs and two bunny rabbits outdoors. There is also a pond which is teeming with wildlife including frogs and dragonflies in the Spring. The pond is protected by an Ofsted approved covering for saftey. We also have a small fish tank indoors with a large goldfish and a number of house plants. I am an active member of the Woodland Trust and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and adhere to the charities´ advice on providing the best care for the wildlife in the setting. We live in a conservation area and take great care of our visiting squirrels and birds.
Children will enjoy helping to tend to our allotment where we grow fruit and vegetables. The produce is tended by the children from the Spring through to the Autumn. Children will help to choose what is grown, prepare the soil, sow the seeds in our greenhouse, plant them out, watch them grow, harvest the produce and then eat it!I am a keen gardener and believe that by involving children in the growing process they may develop an interest in caring for our environment and become healthy eaters.
Children who attend my setting will be protected from abuse and harm and all concerns of abuse will be responded to in a timely and professional manner. I endeavour to resolve any issues which you may be concerned about within the setting promptly and successfully. Information on safeguarding and the complaints procedure may be found on the parents information shelf at my setting.
While managing a large nursery in an inner-city primary school in London, I turned a new outdoor area into a successful forest school. I have found it to be true that by spending time with nature, children become engaged, connected and inspired.
I offer the opportunity for children aged from 1 to 8 to participate in forest school activities on Saturdays from 9:00am till 12:00pm. The children will participate in skill building outdoor activities whatever the weather including participating in energetic games, creating land art, planting and foraging and sitting round an open fire.
I also offer the opportunity for children aged 1 to 8 to participate in daily forest school activity sessions during the school holidays. Please contact me for more information.
